First appeared in movies: Three made-for-TV movies starring Bixby and Ferrigno (1988, 1989, 1990); "Hulk" (played by Eric Bana), (2003); "The Incredible Hulk" (played by Edward Norton, with Ferrigno's voice) (2008) 

Who and what: While attempting to weaponize gamma rays, Banner was dosed by radiation, causing a Jekyll-and-Hyde-like condition that transforms him, whenever his anger or sense of self-preservation rises, from a mild-mannered scientist into a super-powered, raging, incoherent green behemoth. The Hulk possesses none of Banner's intelligence or rationality and is a serious danger even to those friendly to him. 

Dr. Bruce Banner is a mild-mannered scientist who was hired to replicate the Super Solider(that made Captain America decades before) for the US army. But, with a high exposure of gamma-radiation instead of vita rays, turns into an uncontrolled green-skinned rage monster known as the Hulk. Now, fearful of the damage that the Hulk could inflict, Dr. Banner chooses to live a discreet life in remote parts of the world, working to cure the sick and help the poor while trying to elude those who would take advantage of his ability to change into the enormous, green menace. Banner, driven to the brink once supposedly took out a gun and tried to shoot himself in the mouth. He transformed into the Hulk and spit out the bullet.

Hawkeye (real name Clinton "Clint" Barton) is an Avenger, and former Agent of S.H.I.E.L.D. He is the team's marksman.One of S.H.I.E.L.D.'s most elite agents, he is the greatest living marksman on Earth. Armed with his weapon of choice, the recurve bow, Hawkeye fires his arsenal of custom augmented arrows, specialized for any number of specific situations, with perfect precision. With the potential for global catastrophe on the horizon, he employs his amazing combat skills to fight alongside the Avengers.

He has a long history with Natasha Romanoff (Black Widow), as he was once ordered to kill her but instead offered her a new life as an agent of S.H.I.E.L.D. They have been close friends ever since, teaming up on dozens of missions together over the years.

Clint Barton was orphaned at a young age; this led him down the path of becoming a circus performer, specializing in areas of marksmanship. After witnessing Iron Man in combat, Barton reinvented himself as a vigilante, and a costumed criminal. This, however changed, after approaching Tony Stark; Stark sponsered him to become the latest member of the Avengers. Barton possesses near-perfect accuracy with a range of long ranged weapons; a bow however is his main choice. Eqquiped with a number of customized arrows he is ready for any battle situation.

"Know Your superheroes" series : Black Widow

BLACK WIDOW 

Alter ego of: Natasha Romanoff (aka Natalie Rushman) 

Played by: Scarlett Johansson

First appeared on TV: "The Marvel Super Heroes" animated show, 1966

First appeared in movies: Supporting role in "Iron Man 2" (2010) 

First appeared in comics: As an enemy of Iron Man in "Tales of Suspense," April 1964 

Appearance : She wears a black jumpsuit based from the comics. She wears wrist blasters, has red hair and green eyes.


Who and what: One of a series of women, all using the same code name, who were trained from childhood in Soviet-era Russia as assassins with expertise in weapons, martial arts and the techniques of spycraft. She has been an enemy of various of the Avengers over the years, but in the incarnation presented in this film she's on the side of good. She is romantically linked with Hawkeye, who has also been (or been perceived to be) on both sides of the law

S.H.I.E.L.D. Agent Natasha Romanoff (Natalia "Natasha" Alianovna Romanova), a.k.a. Black Widow, is one of the world's greatest spies and is quite possibly the world's most skilled assassin. Armed with an extensive arsenal of specialized weapons like widow stings and cluster bombs, as well as a vast repertoire of martial arts skills, Romanoff's unique talents makes her one of director Fury's top agents and an integral part in assembling The Avengers.

She seems to have a dark history in the films, as Loki mentioned that her ledger was "covered in red." At some point in time Hawk eye had been ordered to kill her, but instead offered her a new life working for S.H.I.E.L.D.
